BESSIE Cindy Carroll
937-433-7638
kecarc01@cs.com

12 to 13 year old Bessie was brought to the St. Clairsville shelter by a family who claimed to have found her as a stray, but the shelter doubted their story.

During Bessie's stay at the shelter, she was spayed & had a large tumor removed from her spine (the incision is 12 inches long).  Bessie came to OBR foster mom Cindy Carroll & her family not eating, with a terrible cough & labored breathing.

The Carroll's vet found serious lung congestion, a grade 4 heart murmur, infection inside the abdominal incision from the spay, nodules in her throat & an incredibly high white blood cell count.

Bessie now is on 2 medications for her heart & an antibiotic.  She is doing a little better & is starting to eat but still has a long way to go.  She will have to be on heart medication for the rest of her life&  may need surgery for the nodules in her throat to help her breathe.

Bessie is a wonderful girl who just wants be comfortable with a family who loves her (and the Carroll's do)!

Bessie is hoping that the generous OBR community will support her medical needs by making donations or providing sponsorships in her name.

How do I adopt an OBR hound?

“                 Step-by-Step – Ohio Basset Hound Rescue’s Adoption Process”

Application at the bottom of the page.

OBR’s goal is to adopt our homeless hounds intopermanent, loving, and responsible homes.  We adopt to all of Ohio and parts of Indiana,Kentucky, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Potential adopters are required to complete and submit an adoption application as the first step in the adoption process.

The adoption application can be printed out directly from OBR’s Web site. OBR does not accept adoption applications submitted via e-mail or fax.  A $10
non-refundable application fee is required with the submission of the adoption application (this will be applied to the adoption fee at the time of the
adoption, if the application is approved).

OBR adoption applications will not be processed if the form is not completed in full, or if the application does not contain the signatures of both the applicant
and their spouse / significant other. The information provided in the adoption application will help us find the best hound for you and your family. We will check
with your veterinarian as to the consistency in the level of care that your current animals receive. We also will check with your landlord (if you rent the
property on which you reside) to verify that you are permitted to have an animal at your residence.   Homes with fenced yards are preferred however,  applications
that do not have fenced yards will be reviewed  by the Board and approved on an individual basis.   Applications received from homes with children 5 and
under will be reviewed by the Board and approved on an individual basis.

Potential adopters will not be permitted to set up a meeting with a rescue dog in a foster home until they have an approved application with Ohio Basset Hound
Rescue. Once the potential adopter has an approved application, then arrangements will be made to have them meet with the rescue dog at the foster home.

A minimum donation of – $200.00 for dogs 1 – 7 yrs. old – $250.00 for dogs under 1 year old and $100.00 for dogs 8 years and older, is required and will be
payable at the time of adoption.  The adopting family also will be will be required to
sign an adoption contract at the time of the adoption.  All dogs are spayed/neutered; inoculated, de-wormed, heartworm tested and kept on monthly heartworm preventative prior to adoption. Please note that OBR Adoption Applications may take 7-10 business days to process.  You will be contacted
by one of our volunteers when we receive your application.  From time to time  processing time may be longer as we are all volunteers and our schedules
may vary.  Please be patient with us.
