Our dogs are located throughout the state of Ohio and parts of IN, MI, PA and KY.

Peri, aka Periwinkle, was found as a stray along with a male basset we have named Rocky. Both dogs were taken in by some local people who tried to locate their owners. No one came to claim either dog so Ohio Basset Hound Rescue stepped in and took ownership of the dogs to try to locate a new home for them. Peri is a petite red and white female basset with a lot of ticking on her legs. She is very sweet and playful and the people who found her reported that she got along great with their dogs and with children in the home. Peri is a real lover and has a great disposition. She was not very fond of being crated for her car ride but did eventually calm down. Peri follows Rocky when he is around. We would love to see both dogs be placed together but realize that this may be a lot to ask of a new owner. That being said Peri was separated from Rocky for several weeks while the people who found them looked for their owner. They told us that she did fine and will definitely need at least one other companion dog in her new home. We would love to find a foster home for Peri so that she can be further evaluated. 12/24/2013 Update: Peri has just been diagnosed with Heartworm disease and will be starting treatment in a few days. This treatment will involve a series of injections and antibiotics for the next 8 weeks. The disease is treatable and Peri should suffer no ill effects after her treatment. During this time Peri will need to be kept quiet and will need to be leash walked during potty breaks and crated when unattended. She is still available to an approved foster or adopter who can follow the requirements during her treatment.
